May the Forth be with you
Indeed, its may the fourth and today’s its Star Wars day so with that we can celebrate my first Blog posting in 2 months. The weather is finally starting to pick itself up after a somewhat bleak, depressing winter and with that more chances to get outside and take photos. Still trying to get to grips with my Camera, getting irritated a little with the kit lens but overall I am glad I got it, not sure I could make a new career of it yet, but if I keep working at it you never know. Come the end of this month and hopefully with a Bonus, I’ll get the first lens I’ve been after for a while Canon EF – Objectif 50 mm f/1.8 II, its known as the Nifty Fifty and probably the first Prime lens you should get when starting out in DSLR Photography, before moving onto the more advanced and expensive lenses.
I may finally be getting a new computer soon, to replace the last one which died a death in March, not sure what I will get yet and I am not going to spend a great deal on a super system, my main concern is to get something that modern will be able to play games (yes that’s important) but more important will allow me to edit my RAW files, which at the moment is just not possible on my old P4, 1GB RAM laptop, so I am looking forward to finally getting to full grips with Lightroom 3 . Light Room is the modern day equivalent of a Dark room from where you can edit your Cameras DSLR RAW files (the negatives) adjust the colors, remove noise etc.. So hopefully with a new computer I’ll be able to spend time and edit my RAW files so I can start to get more of my Photo’s online. This would also give me the chance to finally use the Wacom tablet I’ve had for a while now.
In other news the Sony Playstation Network has been offline for 2 weeks now going on 3 due to an ‘External Intrusion‘, i.e they where hacked and it seems that who ever did it manage to get a hold of some personal details, including names, address, PSN account names and hashed passwords, no evidence that credit card details where taken, but it show the dangers companies face these days in the “Digital Age”, in the meantime my paperweight Playstation 3 (fatty) is collecting dust. Since before christmas it stopped reading Blu-Rays so playing games from disk was out of the question, and recently it stopped reading any disks, so no PS2 games or DVD’s. The only thing I can do now is to play games from the HDD but with the PSN been down its not been possible to play online so no MAG for me
, I am in two minds if I will go ahead and finally get the thing fixed, its going to cost me about €150 to get it repaired but I’ve been somewhat peeved with how Sony has handled the situation, I can perhaps forgive the possible theft of personal details, what annoys me is the pretty poor feedback they’ve given, the last official update was on Sunday (1st of May) and since then nothing (at time of writing). The downside to that is I’ve not been able to play the 2 games I got before Xmas, or have I had the chance to try any of the newer games released this year such as Killzone 3.
I also saw my first 3D Movie Thor, the movie itself was good though I am still yet to be convinced about this whole 3D thing, there where some 3D adverts shown before Thor that had better 3D then what was used in the film so it could be how you implement 3D into a movie or if you consider how to use it in a movie from the offset to really make use of it.
